Sustainability

Back in 2022, we made a conscious decision to work with ibex fairstay. Why? Because it's important to us not only to live sustainability, but also to demonstrate it in a measurable and honest way. The ibex fairstay certification supports us in this – with clear criteria for campsites that go beyond just ecological and social responsibility.

The first ibex fairstay recertification takes place two years after the successful initial certification, offering a rigorous assessment of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. As part of this, we analyse our current sustainability performance as well as the measures we have implemented. 🍃

A central part of the recertification is an internal evaluation of our performance in the five designated dimensions of ibex fairstay

We take a close look at our environmental performance: How much waste, energy and water have we consumed? How sustainable are our F&B purchases? This self-analysis forms the basis for the subsequent, independent audit. Specified criteria from ibex fairstay as well as innovative measures are evaluated. In the end, a certification committee decides whether we will be granted the award once again.

The outcome: We at Camping Alpenblick have received the award again – as a visible sign of our commitment. 💚

We've been able to make a particular impact and improve our sustainability performance in two key areas.

We have improved our communications – both internally within our team and with you, our guests. We listen more closely, ask specific questions and use the feedback to further develop.

Regionality - Sustainability You Can See & Feel

We're now placing even more emphasis on sourcing products from the region. This not only reduces transport distances but also tastes fantastic – you can experience it with us every day.

On our playground at Camping Alpenblick, recycled wood chips from the Unspunnen Schwinget 2023 in Interlaken are used as safety surfacing, demonstrating our commitment to regional collaboration.

By installing raised beds, we can now use produce from our own garden in our kitchen and provide guests with sustainable culinary delights. In our berry-picking nook, guests can also enjoy sweet treats fresh from the plant.

In 2024, we successfully implemented rainwater collection and reuse as service water – enabling us to slightly reduce our water consumption.

With integrated We Wash systems, our communal laundry solutions help reduce both energy and water consumption – smart efficiency meets resource protection.

Through green hosting and our sustainably programmed website, we ensure that just approximately 0.79g of CO2 emissions are required per page view – digitalisation and ecology in harmony.

The hosting of cultural events strengthens the bonds of social and local community – something that is particularly close to our hearts.

By maintaining our biodiversity towers, we are delighted to offer birds, insects and other small guests a welcoming home. 🌿

For us, receiving the award again is independent confirmation of our transparent work in the field of sustainability. We are proud of our teamwork and ongoing development. Still, we know that sustainability is not about perfection but about continuous improvement. That's why we’re taking on board the insights we’ve gained and forming our next steps from them. 👣
